Focused Like a Laser - Send a Hot Message in 2019

I had a great day yesterday—kind of like my dog, Sir Isaac Fig Newton, cool and oblivious indoors on an otherwise blistering hot day.

You know one of those rare days that everything seems aligned just right? Today I am finally able to announce my first true political endorsement as a candidate! I got a call that I received the endorsement from 314Action, an organization dedicated to electing more politicians who come from STEM background. I’m still beaming!

You see, I graduated from William & Mary, in 1993, with a B.S. in physics. And I’ve written software for 20 years at Jefferson Lab, one of the nations particle accelerators—yes, yes ... like in “Angels and Demons.” You can’t get more STEM than that!

Who is This Helping?

Sat down to have my morning cup of coffee with CNN, and within minutes, they interrupted the program and cut to Trump exiting Air Force One with Melania.  

Why is this newsworthy? Now, I understand that a president visiting the Queen is something worth reporting. But an entire day of following him while he and his crooked entourage revel in the royal treatment? Especially after reporting that right before he landed, he started his twitter war with London’s mayor! Why are hearing about Ivanka’s new dress, instead of why the taxpayers are paying for her, and the rest of his non-admin adult children to attend.

We Are Fighting Back!

We have a real tough time finding candidates in rural red districts. Traditionally, these candidates step up on their own, without much support from the state party, much less from outside organizations.  

Although it shouldn’t; running for office takes real money.  The startup costs alone discourage potential candidates from throwing their hat in the ring.

Support typically comes only AFTER a candidate starts filling their coffers, and proving themselves “viable.” Donors only supporting the races that are sure wins. 

This year is different.
